Creativity Workshop – Theatrical Composition0 0 June 21, 2019
Six Class Series
Mondays & Wednesdays
6:30 pm – 9:30 pm
July 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31
This workshop series explores numerous possibilities for theatre making and storytelling. Participants will gain skills collaborating with an ensemble and learn a vocabulary for improvised movement in time and space. Students will incorporate multiple art forms and include personal writing, classical text, poetry, endowed objects, themes and a variety of formats for devising. We will examine how bodies tell story in concert with kinesthetic response, spacial relationship, shape, gesture, tempo, duration and architecture. Students will investigate with the full ensemble and in small groups creating and presenting multiple compositions throughout the workshop series.
Open to all levels. Space is limited. Some discount scholarships available.

I’m excited to offer a new class at the end of July! I think Meisner students will find the marriage with these techniques exciting, and new students will have no problem jumping in to play. I fully expect an explosion of creativity during this series!
I’ve been devising and leading this kind of work for over 20 years working with groups like SITI Company, Elevator Repair Service, Sowelu, Hand2Mouth, Sojourn, Shaking The Tree, and Portland Actors Conservatory. I love devised theatre, exploring theatrical style and finding inventive ways to communicate narratives to an audience.
Please Note: We’ve moved classes into our new rehearsal space on SW Waterfront while renovations take place at Artists Rep. It’s an easy exit right off I-5 between the Aerial Tram and Tilikum Crossing. And there’s Free Parking!
